Whether you're looking for inspiration to create a trendy bathroom or breathe new life into your hallway, surfing the waves of "design trends" in ceramics from one side of the Atlantic to ours is a most inspiring journey.
As we have always observed, design, decoration and fashion trends emerge unequivocally from our European neighbors, who then breathe their splendors into us to brighten and refresh our interiors.
What should we expect? The “king of imitation” tiles and large format ceramics.
Ceramic or tile trends 2021
As European climates are different from ours, we can observe that our neighbors are having a blast covering all surfaces with ceramic with effects that can create atmospheres that are just as complex as they are minimalist, and above all, breathtaking!
Imitations of marble, wood, Burgundy stone, metal or concrete
We are familiar with ceramics that imitate marble, wood, metal or concrete. But, when it comes to Burgundy stone, our neighbours were charmed by the “imitation ceramic” version. We discovered that real stone is based on limestone and sedimentary material that can take on various appearances due to stains, veins and sometimes fossils that can be visible in the material. And then, depending on its origin, north or south of the province from which it takes its name, it will be more or less yellow, ochre, white, pink or even bluish.
The ceramic trend: large formats
And if we stick to our most famous imitations, we will have to dive into the 2021 trend: large format ceramics! They are indeed here and simply sublime due to their textures and the neutrality of earth colors. Follow for example, the Italian designer Matteo Thun who creates decorations that are both simple and harmonious.

Would you have guessed that this flooring was ceramic? We are equally surprised. Often with a lappato finish, these ceramics add luster, and definitely, shine to any surface.
European Discovery: The DYS (for) Design Your Slab Program
The DYS program , or rather "Design Your Slabs", is a new technological service from the Italian company Graniti Fiandre that allows you to reproduce any image or illustration on specific ceramics. Designers, architects and artists in this European region can now give free rein to their imagination. Enough to make them jealous!
